What is Digital Distribution?
Like a brick and mortar CD distributor we get your albums and tracks
into the popular digital retailers that sell digital music. These include the top digital retailers like iTunes, MSN Music,
WalMart.com, Napster, Real, AOL Music and many, many more.
Unlike CD's there are no replication costs,
the
product is never out of stock, and the store is always open. Best of all, unlike other online distributors we charge nothing
to get started!
Who owns the rights to my music?You must own the right to the master sound recording(s) you are sending us for
digital distribution. Since you own this right to your music, you then grant us a License to digitally distribute those works
for the contract term.
What digital stores do you populate my music to?The current list is over 130 digital stores in 30 countries and
can be found here. The list changes monthly.
How come you don't charge a setup fee like most of your competitors?While we do take considerable time in the prep,
production, output, and delivery of your music, we feel that this is a partnership and as a result, we don't charge a setup
fee.
How much do I get paid?CWDMD charges a 40% fee plus a small per/download fee. You keep the rest of the money
we receive from the digital stores.
How often do I get paid?Statements are produced Bi-quaterly and royalty payments, if any, are included with
each statement. Payment is currently done with via Paypal.
How long does it take for you to send my music to all the digital stores?We will get your music out to the digital
stores in a timely manner. Depending on volume, your music should go through our system within 14 days if not sooner.
From that point, it takes the stores anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months for it to go live.
Will my music be in any stores that do not use Digital Rights Management (DRM)?We believe DRM is a key technology
in protecting the intellectual property of labels and artists. CWDMD only distributes to digital stores that use DRM encoding.
Do I need a UPC Barcode?Yes, all titles need a UPC number and album artwork. If you do not have a UPC code, we
can assign one for you. There is a cost, however, of $40 (US) per UPC code regardless of the number of tracks on
an album. All payments are made through paypal.
You must submit this payment prior to submitting your work for
distribution.if you do not, your media will not be distributed.We prefer that the artist obtain their own upc's.(see "buy
now" button on page 1)
Can I make a change to my album once it has been submitted?No. Once a title is live in a digital store it is not
possible to make changes.
Can I release an album as digital-only?Yes, but we still need a UPC number and artwork.
Why is the digital distribution deal exclusive?Digital distribution can be thought of as the same relationship
you have with physical brick and mortar distributors. You don't want two of the same titles active in iTunes through two different
distributors. We have your exclusive relationship to put your music into digital stores around the world.
Can I still do physical CD distribution?Our relationship only involves digital distribution. You are free to distribute
physical product anywhere you want around the world including selling CDs from Web sites.
Does CWDMD distribute to master tones and ring back services?Yes. In addition to the vast network of digital
downloads stores, CWDMD also distributes to master tone and ring back providers. You're digital distribution agreement
with CWDMD contemplates distribution to these channels as well as digital download stores.
Who pays mechanical royalties?You are responsible for all mechanical royalties associated with the sale of a digital
sound recording.
Do i Have to Submit a Copy Of my Copyright?
Yes, You must submit a copy of your copyright.
